Party Preparation

It’s always an honor to be hired to help a client prepare for a special event.  We can help with holiday decor (Christmas Decorating is our specialty), but we have helped with weddings, housewarming parties and even baby showers.  My FAVORITE part of these events?  The TABLESCAPES, of course!

Floral Friday

June is such a beautiful month in Vermont – the fresh green is so vibrant!  What colors better represent Vermont than white & green?  I thought I’d feature classic white & green tablescapes in this week’s Floral Friday.

I love tablescapes that feature over-scale urns.  They work best at buffet tables or long farmhouse banquet tables – that way it doesn’t hinder your guests view across the table.

I absolutely LOVE this centerpiece – white Astilbe, Peonies, Queen Anne’s Lace, Star of Bethlehem and Lupine – all tucked in a vintage green glass vase.  Charming!

I adore Ironstone and Lilacs and this demure centerpiece would be perfect for a bridal luncheon or baby shower, wouldn’t it?

Have a well-designed day!

Spring Colors for Your Home

With a change in season comes a shift in the weather, refreshed attire, and most importantly – a new color
palette. Each season has it’s own feeling, its own smell, and its own colors. Whether through fashion
or décor, the persona of Spring is represented every year through the colors that we choose to

Rutland Vermont Window Covering and Drapery Colors
What makes Spring colors? Well, look around. As the temperature gets warmer, “cool” colors funnel in.
It’s the lighter blue of the sky, the sweeter orange of the tropics, the romantic purple of the violet
flowers in bloom. It’s the pastel yellow, zesty lime green, and blossom rose with a pop of magenta!

Vegetable Centerpieces

This is such a wonderful time here in Vermont.   The dog days of summer sure are behind us and we’re sipping cold cider instead of lemonade.  The foliage crowds haven’t arrived, the sky is bright blue and the evenings are crisp.  Plus, our garden is starting to burst with scrumptious bounty…how about yours?

Did you know you can bring a bushel basket of sun-ripened goodies inside for decorating?  Yep.  Some of my favorite two-minute centerpieces involve produce.  So, grab a basket, fill it with garden goodies and bring it inside for some fun.

I bet when your mother said ‘vegetables are GOOD for you’, you didn’t have THIS is mind.

Floral Friday

I can’t even express my excitement today!  Due to a family commitment, we planned on being in St Louis earlier this week.   I mentioned to my father that I that I had ALWAYS wanted to visit Nell Hill’s in Kansas City, four hours away.  For those of you not familiar with Nell Hill’s, it’s a 13,000 square foot furniture and home accessory store run by the fabulous Mary Carol Garrity.  When I expressed my interest in making the
road trip from St. Louis to Kansas City, my father said, “Let’s add it to our Christmas travel plans, it will be fun!”  So, my sister and father are here with me.  I plan to spend the better half of the day at Nell Hill’s.  Hee..hee…I don’t think my father knows what he got himself into!

But because the store gets visitor’s from all over the United States the store has a concierge.  And due to the high volume of men accompanying their wives/daughters, the store even has a ‘men’s lounge’.

I plan on taking loads of pictures of the store so be sure to stop by for updates!

To honor Mrs. Garrity, who named her store after her grandmother (don’t you LOVE that?), here is some FLORAL FRIDAY Christmas inspiration from her:
